Sunday Night Dinner

Mummy, KL and HN came over for dinner as usual. Cooked teriyaki chicken, yong tau foo and mango jellyfish salad. Experimented with the sauce for the first time. My colleague JH shared with me how she did the sauce. First fried some shallots, garlic and pounded chilli. Then added some plum sauce and a small packet of "chee cheong fun" sauce that was bought from the market. Added some lime juice and water, and finally thicken with corn flour. The yong tau foo pieces are then fried lightly. KL bought some durians over--D24 and "Ang Hei" (Red Prawn) They were GOOD! We also had plums(Australian) which I bought from NTUC today. Very sweet! Will buy some more! Then the usual fruit juice...

For dessert, G asked for Mango Smoothie. Went to a restaurant for lunch where we had baked rice and fish and chips as well as mango smoothie and a sundae for dessert. The smoothie did not taste very natural. So we decided to try it at home--using fresh mangoes, vanilla ice cream, fresh milk and orange juice.

J and G have been asking for muah chee also. Used to make it quite some time ago, using Leng's mum's recipe. But I've forgotten where I wrote the recipe, so surfed some food websites and got this recipe using the microwave. It's really so easy. Just mix 250g glutinous rice flour with 380ml of water. Add some shallot oil and microwave on high for 2 minutes, take out to stir and put it back to micorwave again for 1 minute, then stir again. Cut inot smaller pieces and toss in peanut-sugar-sesame seed mixture.

Refreshments for Church Service @SingPost

Yesterday was my turn to prepare the refreshments. Didn't really have time to think what to prepare as I had a really hectic week. Only on Friday night could I think about the food...finally decided to do something simple--sandwich roll with egg mayo with luncheon meat, and tuna as well. Also baked carrot cake and made popcorn--salty and sweet.

Sushi and more sushi

As the church is having a special Easter programme, PH requested that I make some sushi for refreshments. Made 3 trays of sushi... but my kids complained that they only had 1 piece each! They requested to have sushi again for dinner again on Easter Sunday. Mom came over for dinner and I prepared seafood soup with bee hoon..with the crab bee hoon stock we bought a day ago from Ang Mo Kio. Mmm... quite yummy. When CL comes back from HK, will certainly go back to buy more crab dishes.

My Very Own Blog At Last!

I've finally dragged myself to create my own blog. Have been wanting to do this but somehow didn't get down to doing it. Just did my IRAS e-filing and since I have the computer all to myself (the kids are all out--J(worship practice), G and Js(LP Thomson)), thought I'd give it a try.

I'd like to share my recipes with all who enjoys simple home-cooked food. Hopefully my kids will have something to look back to when they grow up and have their own families. It'd be wonderful if they could have fond memories of Mummy's food and crave for this or that.
